Reset a cPanel account password in WHM
Reset the password for a cPanel account if you or one of your users cannot sign in. You can either use the Reset Password option on the cPanel sign-in page or change the password directly in WHM.
Before you begin
Make sure the following requirements are met before you begin:
- You know the username of the cPanel account.
- The cPanel account has a valid contact email address if you want to use the Reset Password option.
Reset the password from the cPanel sign-in page
- Go to your cPanel sign-in page. This can be accessed through
https://<YOUR-SERVER-DOMAIN>:2083/ - Click Reset Password.
- Enter the username of the cPanel and click Reset Password.
- Enter the contact email address of your cPanel and click on Send Security Code.
- In the Security Code text box, enter the security code you received and click Submit.
- Enter the new cPanel password and click Set Password.
Change the password in WHM
- Log in to WHM as the root user.
- Go to Account Information>List Accounts.
- Search for the cPanel account.
- On the result, click the + icon on the right. This will give you more options.
- Enter the new password in the Change Password text box.
- Click Change.
